Charawleston

Finally! Pictures from my trip to South Carolina, where the weather is always beautiful and the navy men are appreciative ;)

I commenced my trip with a fabulous meal. Much of the trip was dedicated to soul searching and oysters. Actually, it was mostly oyster searching.

They had one of my bank branches there. This is where I went to roll in the dough.

Nightlife in Charles-town is definitely a lot livelier than we thought, but in a very subtle way. While feeling very good about life (thanks to alchie-ma-hol), we found this sign very fascinating on the street. And you know what they say about big hands.. big feet.

For no other reason but jumping is ridiculously fun to do, we have been tempting these action shots over Italy, NYC and now, SC.

When Karen and Sue go on trips, we go a little overboard. Exhibit A: Crashing a wedding on the beach. Unfortunately, we did not have Owen Wilson's boyish wiles and charm.

SC beaches were quite warm and clear and the waves were obnoxiously high, which led to many thrilling wardrobe malfunctions. After we learned our lesson that waves and bikinis don't mix, we hopped out of the water and perused the beach for Kodak moments. There was a guy napping on the beach with his legs spread at a severely acute angle so of course, why wouldn't I capitalize on the moment?

This is my BEEEATCH photo. I own you.

Our boyfriends here seen walking away after approaching us and finding out that we're almost 5 years elder to them. Their southern charm did not make the experience creepy at all. Aww. Adorable, but we try not to use our cougar cards.

Making new friends at clubs. We even saw Snoop Dog.

Lunching on a pier during our last day together.

It's the CHEEEEESIEST

So with all that leftover parm, cottage cheese and basil, I decided to experiment with danger. just keeding. I mean to try something that could either be a lethal or joyful gustatory combination. I also had asparagus and rice paper leftover from a previous soiree so naturally, I made fried spring rolls. yay! I forgot to use flash and ate it before I got to reshoot. Deal.

Spring rolls stuffed with asparagus, parmesean cheese and basil

Thyme cottage cheese dip with black sesame seeds to go with the rolls

I think next time, I need mas queso. A little mo' cheese ain't hurt nobody.

Gracious as a ... lamb? Bahh

Despite promising to blog more frequently, I can explain my neglect with urgent matters such as Chronicles of Narnia, baking meal muffins, and bathing.

Chronicles of Narnia - crazy, freaky movie but really entertaining. It's like a mental escape from .. errr, reality.

Meal muffins - I made (and succeeded, yay!) savory sun dried tomato, cottage cheese, basil and parmasean muffins. mmmm mmmm *pat on back*

Bathing - overrated. Back to showering.

And lastly, I've been re-internalizing a sermon I heard almost two years ago at the Chinese Fellowship I used to attend. The sermon was about being truly humble. Not modest-about-your-accomplishments, humble. But more like when a lowly peasant works 16 hours a day harvesting crops and then returning home with just a few more coins than he started with in his pocket and still fully appreciating everything he has without minding the long days of toil.
Grateful + Gracious --> humble

Shadow of the Days

As if it were weightless, my hair misbehaved in the wind. While standing atop the roof, I saw you glance down below. Hums of city traffic seemed worlds away from us.

tea time

Love, all alike, no season knows nor clime,
Nor hours, days, months, which are the rags of time.
